London is a truly cosmopolitan city, home to many of the country's most famous landmarks. Standing on the southeastern side of England, London comprises many notable districts, each with their own character and attractions. The city of London is divided by the wide River Thames, which is spanned by many eye-catching bridges, including the well-known Tower Bridge and the more modern Millennium Bridge.

Many of the most popular parts of London lie on the northern bank of the River Thames. Nearby, the West End of London is the city's famous theatre district, known for its world-class entertainment venues and historic theatres, many of which are close to Covent Garden, Leicester Square and SoHo.

For the best shopping in London, be sure to head for Oxford Street, Regents Street and Knightsbridge, home of the enormous and acclaimed department store of Harrods. Also worth noting, London's Chinatown district contains a plethora of authentic Asian-style restaurants, while the historic financial district, known as 'The City', contains many major companies and banks, being home to both the Bank of England and the London Stock Exchange.
